Gabriela Ortega is an award-winning artist from the Dominican Republic and a USC graduate. Her short film Huella premiered at the 2022 Sundance Film Festival and will be expanded into a feature with support from Sundance Labs, Cine Qua Non-residency, and Gotham Week. She is also developing Piratas, a Spanish-language feature set in the Dominican Republic, funded by the 2023 Rainin Grant. Gabriela's achievements include being named one of Filmmaker Magazine’s 25 New Faces of Independent Film (2022) and winning the Young Guns competition (2023).
Her work, such as the Disney Launchpad film Beautiful, FL (streaming on Disney+) and PAPI on HBO, reflects her blend of fiction and poetry.
